On June 14th, 20 members of the Cherokee Hiking Club met for their monthly business meeting at TVA Sugar Loaf picnic area. This is a great free public use area just down stream from Parksville Dam #1 on the Ocoee River. The park offers nice picnic areas along the river as well as a modern toilet building, workout stations, and playground equipment for children.
The hiking club uses this facility at least once a year for one of their meetings. This Thursday we enjoyed a great pot luck supper followed by our usual meeting and we discussed some of the past and upcoming hikes and events the club has hosted. Several hikes coming up in Polk County include hikes to Rainbow Falls, Big Frog and the Caney Creek “Town without cars”. We invite you to join us for hiking and/or fellowship. For more information see the schedule at www.Cherokeehikingclub.org.
