In addition to our proximity to top rated interstate systems, U.S. Highway 64 and U.S. Highway 411 travel through Polk County providing secondary transportation routes. State Highways 30, 314 and 68 are also located in the county serving as connectors to the interstate and federal highway systems.

Polk County has rail service provided by CSX Transportation.  CSX is one of the nation’s leading transportation suppliers and serves properties in and around Polk County.  CSX serves major markets in the eastern United States and has access to over 70 ocean, river and lake port terminals along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, the Mississippi River, the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway.


Sea Ports

The Port of Savannah, the largest single container terminal in North America, is the closest seaport to Polk County.  It is located within 385 miles of Polk County.  The Port of Savannah offers two rail roads,Norfolk Southern and CSX, on terminal; Over 3 million square feet of warehouse space, immediate access to two major interstates; 9,700 feet of contiguous berth space, and has the largest concentration of import distribution centers on the East Coast.

River Ports

The closest river ports for cargo shipment to Polk County are in Chattanooga, TN.  The ports have mooring cells and a railroad spur for offloading. 

 


Intermodal

With ports in nearby Chattanooga, intermodal transport is a viable option for business in the Ocoee Region.  As part of the nation’s Inland Waterway System, the Tennessee River is one of the largest tributaries of the Ohio River.
